The following letter was published in Calgary Herald, on Nov 8th, 2023.
The world continues to head toward catastrophe. Time and again, mankind plunges toward an abyss that becomes increasingly more difficult to escape. Most unfortunately, the actions of today are affecting not only the guilty but also the innocent of this world — our children.
As an Ahmadi Muslim, I am obliged to condemn the escalation of violence and bloodshed from Hamas. However, Hamas does not represent all Palestinians — and the Israeli government’s right to defend itself against legitimate threats does not justify targeting Palestinian civilians, children and homes in such an indiscriminate manner.
Our world must work to prevent further escalation and devastation to manage the irreversible damage caused by the conflict.
